This interactive workshop is designed to help educators move beyond the hype surrounding artificial intelligence and explore practical, classroom-focused applications that support teaching and learning. Participants will examine how AI tools such as ChatGPT, Brisk Teaching, MagicSchool AI, and NotebookLM can be used to enhance lesson planning, assessment, differentiation, accessibility, and student engagement while reducing time spent on routine tasks.Through demonstrations, guided exploration, and collaborative discussion, attendees will experience firsthand how AI can support diverse learners and create more inclusive, multimodal learning environments. The workshop also addresses important considerations related to academic integrity, bias, privacy, equity, and responsible implementation.Rather than positioning AI as a replacement for educator expertise, this session emphasizes how AI can serve as a professional tool that enhances instructional effectiveness and supports informed decision-making. Participants will leave with practical strategies, sample prompts, and classroom-ready resources that can be immediately implemented in teacher preparation programs, professional development settings, and PK–12 classrooms.
MATERIALS PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING
To maximize participation and hands-on learning, attendees should bring a laptop, Chromebook, or tablet with internet access. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to create free accounts for commonly used AI tools such as ChatGPT, Brisk Teaching, MagicSchool AI, and NotebookLM prior to the session. Access to at least one AI platform will enable participants to actively engage in guided exploration.Attendees are also encouraged to bring a lesson plan, assignment, assessment, syllabus, or instructional resource from their own teaching or teacher preparation context. These materials will be used during workshop activities to explore authentic applications of AI for lesson planning, differentiation, assessment design, accessibility supports, and student engagement.All workshop materials, sample prompts, resource guides, and implementation templates will be provided digitally by the presenter. No prior experience with artificial intelligence is required. The workshop is designed to support participants ranging from AI beginners to more experienced users seeking practical classroom applications.
